The Peace Bridge, which opened on March 24, 2012, has been very controversial. Either you think the 25 million was well spent or not. Either way, it has brought a unique flavour to downtown Calgary. It’s hard not to marvel at the modern, tubular, red and white bridge, and most pedestrians probably enjoy the scenic, beautiful walk or bike across the Bow River.
The Peace Bridge was designed by Santiago Calatrava, an award winning Spanish architect. His works include the Allen Lambert Galleria in Toronto, the Turning Torso skyscraper in Sweden and the Trinity Bridge in England.
